Anyway, I would love it if someone bought the patent and made it again, better longevity this time though. I called for repairs under the Amazon warranty, & this is how I found out. Rivals many 2.1 systems. But.#1, there is not adaptor for the ipod Nano 3rd gen (aka - Fat Boy). I hope this helps those other researchers out there. Forward song, last song, volumne, etc.
Well, I can say that I did a lot of research and read many reviews before buying the Altec Lansing iM7. Second but.remote doesn't control iPod fucntions. And the last "BUT".Altec Lansing (AL) does not make these anymore. WTF. Anyway, I was told by AL rep that they stopped making it as it was to exepnsive to make. No big deal. I was not dissappointed in the sound. Wow.
So that was not a serious issue for them and likely a front "line" to tell the public. They will replace it, but their new stuff sounds aweful. Has not since 2006. That is bull. It shouldn't, but it does.
Economics 101 people. Great sound, just be careful. They were always sold out of it. Just plain awesome. Seriously, their sound quality on all their speakers/systems is just tanking.
I know this after TWO units. But that is OK, you can still place it in and close the door. Now, the biggest "Buts".The system will blow the subwoofer or tweeter if played too loud for too long.
i have plugged it into my laptop and used it as an external speaker. it also has an aux in which is nice. I love this thing so much i actually bought three. has a lot of bass and can use batteries so you can take it to the beach.
We got this product on time but it was defective, so we returned it immediately to the provider. We bought something, paid for it, and one month later, we still do not have our product.
I like how i can sling it over my shoulder and the small attached pouch comes in handy to carry the a/c adapter etc. If it broke i would buy it again. I also bought the harness to help protect it. I have had my unit going on three years and it still ROCKS. For the price, you can't beat it. Sounds fantastic, can get really loud and keeps my i-pod charged. I use it outside when doing yard work or cooking on the grill. What more could one want.
Likewise, a manager told me there was nothing to be done as the unit is out of warranty. So, I paid $250 for two years of use. I purchased my iM7 two years ago and it was great until yesterday. I won't be buying another Altec Lansing product. Not a good value in my book. Now it no longer comes on or plays (no, it was dropped, spilled on, or otherwise abused). Tech support told me it sounded like and short and there was nothing they could do for me.
